It is with sad news (thanks to a tip from Murray Crane) that Malcolm Heard, a former Saville Row tailor, who set up shop in New Zealand some years ago, has passed away. I had the pleasure of spending a day with him and Brendan, his business partner, in the making a a TV episode about bespoke. Malcolm had strong opinions about mens tailoring, but were always reinforced with an incredible knowledge of the finer details of how a man should wear a suit. Such skill, gleaned from years of working with the worlds finest tailors showed in the work he produced. As they say, he was the real deal.

I didn't know who he was but that is very sad. Someone with so much knowledge can never be replaced. You were extremely lucky to have been able to spend the day with him. I would've loved that.
He was such a lovely man, a neighbour of mine from down the street a little. Quite a great sense of humour and still so active. So sad to see him go. We will miss you Malcolm. RIP.
Ah stink - he seemed to have spark.
At least we got to record some of his thoughts and people can still see him on Heartland when they repeat the show.
